Another round of heavy-duty revising. Helped again by the poetry group.
Revising is not exactly a riveting topic for a blog. “Today I got rid of one page and added two. Yesterday I zapped three pages, and changed two lines on another page. Then changed one of those lines back to the way it was.”
Part of the problem is, I can’t talk about a book in any detail when I’m working on it. It dilutes the energy, and writing a novel takes a whole lot of sustained energy.
So you’re left with:
I took a page of description of Bullbirds Cove, where Nix lives, to the poetry group.
Now this is interesting.
They thought (and I had worried about this) that the description was in Jill-the-former-poet’s-voice. Not in Nix-the fifteen-year-old-boy’s voice. And they were right.
So the next day, guess what ? I’m back to revising…
