Back to School

My first school visit today, a grade four class in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
The teacher, Mrs. Tenwolde, has been reading my book to the kids, so they had lots of questions for me, and I had questions for them. It was a wonderfully lively session, and I was so impressed with the children’s curiosity and interest.
They’re doing book reviews on Nine Lives, and have promised me copies – I really look forward to getting them. It was a great introduction to the classroom – I don’t want to tell you how many years since I’ve been in school!
And the whole session made me understand, once again, why I wrote the book – because I hoped kids would get to read and enjoy it.

Hi Jill…Thank-you again for the visit to our classroom! The pictures are great! I passed the postcards out to the students yesterday and they were very excited to receive them! They have just completed a Thank-you note for you with some wonderful drawings of their favorite thoughts about 9 Lives. One favorite thought came from one of my more quieter students…wondering why cats get 9 lives and we only get 1 life. This student sat very quiet during your visit, at the back of the room. She was obviously thinking about something! I look forward to checking in with you from time to time! Cheers!
