Mental Health Day at a Local School

The Mental Health day at North-Woodside Southdale Elementary School in Dartmouth went very well.

I focused on reading about bullying from the first two of my books, describing some of Travis’s and Prinny’s difficulties as they tried in their very different ways to deal with Hud and the Shrikes.

Good questions from the kids, some good feedback; and I got to sit in on some of the other sessions.

Thank you to Randy Bullerwell, the guidance counsellor, for asking me to attend!

Literary Lunch

The Literary Lunch at the Halifax Club was unfortunately cancelled, as not enough tickets had sold. I was disappointed. I think that, too, would have been fun and interesting.

Hopefully, it can be rescheduled.

Literary Lunch at The Halifax Club

The Halifax Club on Hollis Street is giving a Literary Lunch from noon to 2 pm.

Sheree Fitch, Vicki Grant and myself are the three writers who will be attending on this date. We each read for 10 minutes, then there’s a panel discussion and Q/A period. The usual audience is 80-100 people, and it should be fun.

It will be interesting to hear what questions come up, and also to hear two of my favourite authors read from their latest books.

Participating at a Local School’s Annual Mental Health Day

Southdale-North Woodside Elementary School in Dartmouth NS is having their 2nd Annual Mental Health Day Conference.

Randy Bullerwell, the Guidance Counselor, has invited me to participate, as all three of my children’s books have bullying as a theme.

I’ll be really interested both in presenting my books to grade 5 and 6 classes, and in attending some of the other sessions.

Interview on CKDU

When Stephen Patrick Clare of CKDU first said a 45-minute interview, I was freaked!

Forty-five minutes can be a very long time.  But, he’d read the book thoroughly, his questions were excellent, I got on a roll, and at the end we ran out of time.

The show was rebroadcast on campus networks across the country: good publicity for Home Truths.

Thank you, Stephen!
