Word on the Street was actually on the street again this year, after several years of being
indoors. It was held in Victoria Park in downtown Halifax – on a cool, windy day. Very
cool. Fleece was called for.
But it was fun to listen to, and reconnect, with other writers, and to buy a few books (I
always tell myself I won’t – but I don’t listen).
I read from Home Truths, my first Young Adult novel. Unfortunately, the actual copies
of the book were stuck on a courier’s truck somewhere between Ontario and Nova Scotia,
so I had to read from the manuscript. But it felt good to read from pages that I’d worked
on so hard for so long.
