I was happy to hear that I will be attending the 15th annual The Word on the Street in Halifax on September 27 – hopefully with both books. This is a great opportunity to meet other authors and, of course, many readers. WOTS involves readings and panel discussions. See you there!
Yesterday morning at the early hour of 7:15 a.m, I turned up at the Prince George Hotel in Halifax for a Newfoundland-theme breakfast that is part of the Atlantic Book Fair. I was one of four authors who talked about their books, and read from them, at the breakfast. I was given an advance reading copy of “The Present Tense of Prinny Murphy” – plain white cover, and not the final, final edit – but definitely beginning to look like a real book! Oh yes, we had fish cakes, pancakes and bakeapple syrup…all delicious.
I’ve been working really hard on editing the sequel to “The Nine Lives of Travis Keating” which is called “The Present Tense of Prinny Murphy.” I knew when I was writing about Travis that I wanted to know more about Prinny, and the sequel was my chance. It will be published by Fitzhenry & Whiteside in the fall of 2009. I’m very excited about it, and look forward to seeing the actual book!
The publishers have also had a designer working on a new cover for “The Nine Lives of Travis Keating” which will be reissued this fall. Check it out – it’s very different from the first cover, and I’ll be interested to know what people think of it.
